SSENSE Sale Incl. Current Season Pamela Love Jewelry
Sunday December 18th 2011, 4:37 pm

SSENSE may be a Canadian company, but what originated as their Black Friday sale has continued into an even deeper disount haven.  I’ve been creeping on Pamela Love’s FW11 collection since it appeared, and to my delight have noticed that her current season pieces have been slashed 50% off retail prices.  These are some of the best items available from the FW11 collection, so if you’re like myself, you’re going to be getting your fingers clicking over SSENSE’s way ASAP.

Favorite pieces available are the quartz necklace, the crystal crescent necklace, porcupine needle necklace, porcupine needle bracelet and double crystal ring.

SALE: Chris Habana Crucifix, False Idol, Nailed Jewelry
Thursday December 01st 2011, 6:01 pm

Chris Habana jewelry is rough, pagan and sincerely amazing now that Prive has it on sale at over half off.  My personal favorites are the gunmetal pearl cross necklace ($88 from $195), gunmetal crucifixion necklace ($70 from $150), False Idol necklace ($70 from $150), Swallowed Pearl necklace ($82 from $185) and the Rose and Thorn rosary ($75 from $165).

If you’re not familiar with CH’s range, he’s been designing his gothic spin on accessories since 2004, and is notorious for not taking himself too seriously.  It translates well, and since he doesn’t have any stockists outside of NYC, this is an epic chance to get a piece of Habana jewelry for not only a discount but at a reasonable shipping price!

SALE: Leather Accessories by RUSH CULTURE, $9-22
Friday August 26th 2011, 11:30 am

It’s about fall, which calls for layering not only concerning clothing, but for accessories as well.  Colder weather also calls for heavier accessories, in which metal laden cuffs and wrap around are heartily welcome.

The pieces to the right are by Rush Culture and on sale; ranging from $9-22 (regularly $50-80 per piece) and showing some pleasantly punk renditions of past favorites.  I’m quite partial to the wraparound stud ($19), thick rhinestone ($19) and thin studded ($14) shown to the right, though there are scores of others that tickle that sort of style.

SALE: R13 Denim, $76-95 (From $265-336)
Wednesday August 24th 2011, 9:53 am

One of the hottest brands coming out of America is R13; they make an abundance of pieces in jersey and leathers, though the meat of their brand is the denim collection.  Currently, you can snag pairs of R13 denim at Prive at prices from $76-95, which is fairly amazing considering some of these pairs crest retail rates of $336 per pair.

demiCouture favorites are the pairs listed below; the black hose fit ($80 from $312), Indiana classic hose fit ($95 from $366), black skinny ($76 from $290), grey skinny ($95 from 366) and the black slouchy skinny ($88 from $339).  Sizes available are 24 – 31, varying slightly between cuts as to what is available for each.

It’s a good thing this Chloe Comme Parris sale is today, because I’m pretty certain that we all had to literally drag ourselves out of bed today (or perhaps it was just me?)

Chloe Comme Parris is an addmittedly oddly cut collection with some quirky accessories.  My favorite pieces include the Safari jacket ($421 from $1,010) grey Rock tee ($86 from $200) and the large ruffle cuff ($102 from $250).

It’s time for Beyond The Rack‘s always excellent sunglasses sale, which continues to rotate in and out some excellent picks from the high street to top design world.

I can personally vouch for John Varvatos’ Allen Park frames [shown]; I’ve got those in brown and always get compliments on the shape of them.  My two other shape favorites are definitely Chloé’s Bezout and Paul Frank’s The Sporting Life.

Need to get into Beyond The Rack? Not a problem.

SALE: Kai-Aackmann Pieces $18-69
Wednesday August 10th 2011, 1:55 pm

It’s clear that Prive loves a little drapey minimalism, which works well for all of us as pieces are excellently priced and sourced from talented designers.  The latest crop is from South Korean talent Kai-Aackmann.

These pieces are elegant minimalism, able to be worn by anyone at nearly any time – favorites being the one shoulder tunic ($39 from $100) and fringe tunic ($25 from $65); both of which are perfect for the girl that may typically shy away from dresses (ahem, myself).

Other gooders include the one shoulder drape tee ($48 from $120), long sleeve fringe tee ($25 from $65) and drape front hoodie ($59 from $150).

Want in on the goods? Really, how could you not.

The Best Of The Summer Sales
Tuesday August 02nd 2011, 7:26 pm

It’s nearing the end of summer, which equals summer sales at all of the best online boutiques.  I’ve took a gander through a few of my favorites, and come up with some delicious could-be-FW11 items.

Footwear is always my favorite, and Acne’s Pistol booties are just the thing for everyday wear, along with the slightly lower Becca Moon Cody.  Simple loafers are always a great choice, and Surface to Air’s Blade slippers are colored perfectly, though Nine West’s Hatbox are going to be warmer when the weather turns.

Dresses are great for layering under sweaters or blazers [like Marc Jacobs' wool two button], and Sacai’s t-shirt dress present the perfect balance between day and night wear, though Tsumori Chisato’s striped tank dress is better for us that like louder designs.  Layer a long sleeve tee under any of these shorter sleeved dresses, and your dresses have become seasonal chameleons.  Sling a Km-Rii bag over your side (they’re 70% off!!) and you’re ready, still [hopefully] have some dollars to spend while you’re looking incredible!

TOPSHOP Is On Sale @ Prive [Leather, Feathers, Military!]
Tuesday August 02nd 2011, 10:01 am

My favorite private sale site Prive is holding another Topshop sale, with exciting results.  Fall staple trends such a military coats, leather jackets, shearling, animal coats and leather accessories [I'm talking satchels and gloves here, people] are all on sale for 50% off.

This is a rare opportunity for Canadians, as these pieces are already in Canada and you will not be charged duties/import fees.  That means what you see is what you pay, and shipping is also reasonable [Prive ships internationally].

demiCouture favorites are undoubtedly the multi stitch biker jacket ($175, from $345), shearling flying vest ($340 from $680), feather cape ($115 from $230), military Amelie trousers ($28 from $55), Hello Shetland swing coat ($95 from $190), large strap satchel ($112 from $225) and the purple suede bow gloves ($15 from $30).

Rebecca Minkoff Demonstrates Exceptional Customer Service
Wednesday July 20th 2011, 2:20 pm

After some quality issues with a Rebecca Minkoff bag I purchased for my mom, I was pretty annoyed.  As usual, I took to Twitter first, and had a very fast response from the RM team.  They first asked what was wrong, then had me send them details in an email as 140 character’s really didn’t cut it.

Along with this little surprise the RM team sent me, along with a hand written note that said to call them anytime regarding any Minkoff related questions.  Despite my earlier difficulties, the brand has wow’d me with this customer service.. suffice to say this has completely humiliated the Alexander Wang team, since they ignored my numerous tweets and emails questioning their quality.

There is a Vera Wang sunglass sale on at Hautelook right now, and they are much better than anticipated, nay, they’re actually quite excellent.

The three pieces to the right are but a taste of the Wang sunnies on for $92 (from $275), which is ending soon.  There are only two designs sold out, which means that there are over thirty designs still available.

10 FW11 Worthy Summer Items Currently On Sale
Wednesday July 13th 2011, 3:46 pm

While being inundated with all of the summer sales, it’s difficult to discern which pieces are worthy buys to work into the coming pre-fall and fall season.  It’s best to scour the sale sections on your favorite websites first; with trending becoming more obscure and unrelated to weather, it is highly probable that you will locate leather or knit pieces that are on sale and ready for cooler temperatures.

Knits are a clear favorite for layering; try a draped Complex Geometries jacket, Topshop Vesper knit dress or Giada Forte’s cropped olive sweater.  Wool is also a best bet for fall outerwear, thus making A.P.C.’s wool cape coat is an ideal option to make your way through seasonal transitions.

Leather is another top choice; high quality leather wears and ages well, and if you can get it on sale then dollars can be saved.  Alexander Wang’s transitional jacket is just the chameleon piece you’ll want in your arsenal.  A large bag is just as important, and one that is leather and under $400 is a catch.  Elena Ghisellini’s lambskin nappa tote is just the thing you’ll love, and it comes in either black and white or black on black.

Footwear is also a prime opportunity for savings.  Since the loafer explosion we’ve had many leather styles, and Roberto del Carlo’s minimalistic nappa pair, Chloë Sevigny x Opening Ceremony’s Chelseas (which I’ve featured before) or Peter Flowers’ over the knee style.  The OTK pair is ideal for a number of reasons; not only are they 50% off, but the sole is thick (evoking a traditional riding boot) and the leather that meets the back of the knee is not split (something cheaper OTK boots often have).  Top with a silver facet ring, and you’re ready to meet fall weather! (Unless you’re in Vancouver, and know fall is already here)

Lor G Accessories Define Boho Goth
Friday July 08th 2011, 3:23 pm

When it comes to jewelry with echoes of goth, things have developed into a less organic feel for the style.  Over time styles circle back from industrial to a more earthy, natural style and we’re left with pieces much like those in the Lor G collection.

Like braided leather bracelets, a beaded piece is very androgynous and versatile.  The onyx bead bracelet ($116 from $250) and silver skull bead bracelet (also onyx, $62 from $155) are my favorites from the collection, though there are additional colors available.

For simple metals, an oxidized silver cross $95 from $210) or Swarovski crystal encrusted skull ring ($162 from $350) are both excellent choices.  If you’re hesitant at the higher price point (even after sale discounts), remember that these are real minerals, not plastic.  Silver itself a very expensive metal to buy, and these aren’t plated – you’re getting a quality piece of jewelry.

Love what you see? Check out the rest of the Lor G collection on sale at PRIVE.

Loving GAR-DE Leather & Suede Paneled Seperates
Monday June 27th 2011, 3:15 pm

It’s always a great day when I stumble upon leather pieces that take on the classics, yet still get the heart rate up. A solid leather jacket can accent any look, and you don’t have to be looking the biker part to pull the look off easily.

The first was the Gar-de Donar leather jacket ($218 from $695); matte leather riddled with buckles and perfectly paneled to balance the look.  If you’re brave enough, venture into the territory of the Karluk trousers ($159 from $525) – jersey and suede combine to create a statement trouser for multiple seasons.

PRIVÉ has these pieces and more on sale; check em out.
