FW11 TREND: Crystal Shard Jewelry

Crystal shards are no longer for your dreadlock stinkline hippies; the raw accessories have officially burst upon the scene in pop culture.  Blame it on the 80s if you will, but this collection is anything but throwaway throwback.

If you’re into channeling your inner mystic, Armani Exchange’s triple shard ring and Erin Wasson’s ongoing collaboration with Low Luv’s metal crystal earrings, gold plated ring and AllSaints’ Xenolith (also available in smoke) are both affordable options.

for those with a little more wiggle room in their jewelry budgets, Swarovski’s minimalistic and Zoe Twitt’s chain wrapped shard ring are definite eye catchers.  Pamela Love’s new collection is no snoozer either; her a strong piece in her block cuff, while my favorite is definitely her Crystal Crescent necklace because of its Sailor Moon-esque design (hah!)

HALABY Makes A Very Theatrical Metal Headpiece

Space headpieces, Ziggy Stardust slash Elton John slash Lady Gaga circa Yoü and I – metal facial weirdness has begun to hit the mainstream.

This is Halaby’s Cyborg helmet, something featuring a bird-like forehead frill and Princess Leia satellite ear covers and a monocle from Hell, found at Luisa via Roma for $1,300.  I don’t even know what to say anymore; this shit is getting too ridiculous even for me.

DESIGNER vs DEAL: Walter Steiger ‘Oscar’ & Topshop’s ‘Pisa Banana’ Boots

Walter Steiger is the king of the curved heel, and his Oscar ankle boots are some kind of divine.  They’re extreme renditions of the Chelsea with their elastic insert, and Topshop has created a little inspired by piece called the Pisa Banana.

It’s got the curved heel just like the Steig, the elastic, black suede outer and platform base.. it’s a pretty decent knockoff.
