William Rast Does December Target Collection
Thursday July 29th 2010, 1:46 pm

Following last Christmas’ Rodarte x Target insanity, the big box retailer is working with Justin Timberlake’s William Rast to create a low cost diffusion for sale in December.

Rast denim averages in the $150s to early 200s, which has me wondering what Target is going to pull through in their collection.  Denim is easier to produce at a lower cost, but fans of William Rast come for the thickness of the cotton and weave; if you take that away then you haven’t got anything for the brand to stand for.

We’ll have to see if this is just another play at a name to get hype and customer dollars.

Marc Jacobs Gets Ready To BANG The World

Apparently this is THE men’s fragrance, and come Friday you get to actually play a game that involves ‘bang’-ing other Facebookers.  You get bonus points for late night bangs or if your banger (or bangee) is foreign.. what a way to promote a fragrance.

There is a handful of behind the scenes photos from the Juergen Teller-shot campaign, where Marc gets naked, again.  But who’s complaining?

It seems that H&M’s Garden collection saw the mainstream release of the 3D rosette type flower, and now American Apparel has gotten into the game with their Flower Mesh jumper.

This particular statement piece is $78 US, and is available thus far in black and white.

Can you imagine this in a few rich fall shades? Delectable!

If you’re into everything that Markus Lupfer creates (and who isn’t!), then you’re going to be quite into his new metallic leggings.  They may look a bit familiar, and you would be right – American Apparel’s crowd pleaser disco pant happen to be incredibly similar.

The price point is a crowd pleaser too – the AMAP discos run $237 less than the Lupfer pair.  I think we have ourselves a winner!

7 For All Mankind Collabs w/ Japanese Photog Mika Ninagawa
Wednesday July 28th 2010, 6:44 pm

I’ll be honest – 7 For All Mankind is not at the top of my list for favorite denim labels, but their recent collabo with famed Japanese photographer Mika Ninagawa puts them back at the top of my loves.

7 will be using Mika’s images to ‘blur the lines between art and fashion’, with the entire collection revolving around floral prints from her image collection.  The range will feature pieces from $89 to $198 and available at 7 of 7′s boutique during mid August 2010.

The denim shorts with floral print pocket lining are of particular interest; it’s nice to see such a strong effect from a finishing detail as a massive one (as seen with the tee, for example).

One can hope 7 For All Mankind expands this collaboration for future [hopefully fall] collections, and perhaps venturing into a more gritty, street style of image that you can see from her online portfolio.

Alice + Olivia Doing FAB Pre-Fall Looks For 2010
Wednesday July 28th 2010, 5:41 pm

Looking through the endless parade of new clothing, it’s difficult to identify which pieces are the ones truly worth a buy, and which ones are going to make our legs, arms and midsections look freaking amazing, while still being on trend.  The great thing about this brand is Alice + Olivia pieces can be taken with other items, to combine and create amazing statement looks.   It’s kind of like pairing certain pieces that look good separatley, but bombshell amazing when combined together.

A+O pieces can be worn with nearly any other item in your wardrobe; you don’t have to own an entire wardrobe of piece from this range to get the full effect of the brand’s style.  A few A+O faves include the sequin slouchy shorts ($286), Evan sequin stripe sweater ($368), Michaela purple lambskin leather jacket ($458), Jordan sparkly jersey dress ($330), grey leggings with ankle snaps ($198) and the ripped up skinnies ($79).

The great thing about this brand is

KMRII Accessories Are Back @ Oak NYC!!
Wednesday July 28th 2010, 4:57 pm

Label groupies may swear by more well known designers, but Kmrii is about the art and not the name.  Instead of a bag someone is going to recognize, a Kmrii piece is going to have people stopping short – not due to a name, but because of the design majesty of the bag.

Make no mistake – Kmrii bags are synonymous with underground style and are incredibly displays of creative expression using leather.  The level of detail in a Kmrii piece is exceptional, and while they are priced as a luxury item they are also incredible investment statement pieces.

Scope the Torpedo Raven ($848), Cocoon Taufix ($662) and the LA Mercury bags ($812).  For a slice instead of the whole pie, zero in on the Lasso wallet ($288) or one of the Flat Scale ($88), Round Stud ($82) or Pyramid Stud ($88) bracelets.

Lovely Leather L.A.M.B. Bags On Sale @ Ideeli

Gwen Stefani’s fashion career with L.A.M.B. has eclipsed that of No Doubt – most of us didn’t think that was possible, but we can’t argue with results.  The non-nonsense rock aesthetic appeal of her range filters exceptionally down to her accessory line, which Ideeli is hawking right now.

These are amazing leather pieces available; the Worthington logo satchel ($139 from $275), massive McGuinness tote ($219 from$445), black Manx crossbody ($109 from $225), Healey satchel ($179 from $375) and the Nero Arcot crossbody ($99 from $195).

Normally I don’t go all apeshiz over housewares, though every time I’ve been in a home boutique and seen one of these Lava pillows I’ve stopped short and lamented due to their pricing.

Hautelook currently has them at 51% off, which spells out not only super deals but clinches your status in the cream of the cushion world.  After all, one can look good but their home must also give off the essence of taste and mystery.

demiCouture loves include the Up Close ($29.50), Breathe ($29.50), Zip It ($34.50) and Watching You pillows ($29.50).  Need an in to jack these amazing pillows? Scoop an invite to Hautelook right now.

So Incredibly Tired Of Hipster Triangle Graphic Tees
Tuesday July 27th 2010, 5:29 pm

At one time they were fun, then they got tiring real fast.  I’m talking about the visual epidemic of much hipster loved triangle tees.

The tee that set me off is the new one by Boyfriend/Girlfriend.  If you’re scratching your head wondering what the hell is so exciting about a triangle, it’s something of a subliminal love that has taken off into pack popularity.  Hell, there’s even a Tumblr dedicated to tri-love.

There comes a time when all fad’s time in the sun fades, and I’m calling for the tri-hards to concede and move on.  Perhaps a circle would be fun to deify – it has no beginning and no end!

Jeffrey Campbell x Need Supply Exclusive AUSTEN Shoes
Tuesday July 27th 2010, 2:23 pm

It may be a little late in the summer game for an open toed shoe, but let’s face it – both Jeffrey Campbell and Need Supply’s customers probably really don’t care so long as they get an exclusive shoe.

In comes the Austen ($144); an open toed, cut out low wedge shoe with spunk for your pre-fall styling needs.  The Austen is an exclusive collaboration with JC and Need Supply, so once they sell out, you’re hooped.  The black and floral version is a bit harsh, though the olive green design is much more visually friendly.

I still don’t know about nearly $150 for a shoe you couldn’t wear when it rains, though… I’ll be quite glad once the peep toe phenom begins to die.

Saks 5th Ave Goes Big
Tuesday July 27th 2010, 12:54 pm

Some of the most sought after designer labels will be selling sizes up to 14, and some to 20 at Saks‘ new department for the larger ladies.  Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana, YSL, Alexander McQueen, Fendi and Cavalli will be included amongst the plus sized wares, though one has to wonder if they’re going to actually go up to a size 20, since 14 really isn’t that much of a stretch, especially considering European sizing is usually less than America’s concept of vanity sizing.

Reportedly Armani, Carolina Herrera, Escada, Donna Karan, St. John, Oscar de la Renta, Max Mara, Valentino and Michael Kors will be amongst the designers available for buy in extended sizes.  One has to wonder if this is part of America’s size acceptance, or a byproduct of a hurting retail industry.

COUPON ALERT: 20% Off @ Juicy Couture
Tuesday July 27th 2010, 12:33 pm

This ordinarily wouldn’t be super rad, but due to Juicy Couture’s Bird range, this discount is quite a win. This discount has to be redeemed in store for the coup to be valid; that means Toronto’s Dufferin location is the only option for Canadians, though those in the USA, Europe, the Middle East and Asia have more options than us.

Also, don’t forget that Erin Fetherston is now designing for Juicy – this means a lot fewer tacky tracksuits and more legitimate clothing will be coming available from the brand.

For those close to a Juicy boutique, scope the Brambling wool tweed trousers ($328), Ra Ra velvet miniskirt ($298), Merriman canvas parka ($698), military coat ($698) and the Maya leather and fur jacket ($1,350).
