Louis Vuitton Gets Derelicte With The Raindrop Besace

Louis Vuitton has released a new bag, a trash bag.

This is the Raindrop Besace, named for the waterproof plastic the bulk of the bag is made from.  This bag is tagged at a massive $1960, and appears to only be meant for holding papers since the plastic looks .  Perhaps Marc could look into partnering with GLAD to get a little ForceFlex® into the design.

While I want to say I hate this creation, I can’t… perhaps I’ve been conditioned by all the vagrants in Vancouver.

On one hand, I agree that it is a fun idea/concept. But that is because I view it from a Zoolander/Mugato perspective. To have this come from a major luxury brand and retailing for $2,000, I find insensitive and insulting. I can’t help lose some respect for Marc Jacobs. And that may be because I live in Gastown on the edge of Vancouver’s Eastside. Even with their tongues firmly planted in their cheeks, how Marc Jacobs and the others (and I’m looking at you too, Vivienne Westwood/Scott Shulman) can attempt to glamorize homelessness shows just how removed from the human condition they really are. But then again, how can anyone who can afford to buy a $10 million apartment and live in a hotel for 2 years while it’s being renovated possibly have connection to the plight of street people? Let them eat cake, right Marc?

While looking at the pics, all I can think is “??????”

That really is a visual statement. Art Museum worthy. Enough of a statement to satirize.

@Stylembe: I have to agree.

Obviously, Marc Jacobs is sending up the whole image of luxury by creating a purse that looks like a garbage bag and retails for over four figures.
