Presenting ASOS’ Top 5 Outerwear Pieces

ASOS is always a gold mine when it comes to finding reasonably priced up to the moment designs, but these coats stood out from their scores of competition.  These pieces were chosen on the basis of body coverage, warmth, and creative design – everything that a style enthusiast’s outerwear should be. It was difficult to keep my list of loves down to a measly five, but we can’t give everyone an honorable mention (tell that to those participation loving educators!).

These coats made the cut becdededeause they’re not only trendy, but visually engaging  – the latter especially being the case with the Gestuz shoulder piece coat ($238).  This piece struck me because it’s not simply another shoulder heavy blazer; it has fabric layer detailing to create a whole new Soldier of the 21st Century.  The back detailing is also magnificent, something that so often is left out of the design process.  Another design that wavers on the more proper side is the Kookai double breasted coat; its strong shoulders keep the piece current, yet the traditional A-line fit and minimalistic detailing remains solid for multi season wear.

ASOS' Quad Bounty Of Winter Coats

Draped pieces have become a fetish of mine of late which never used to be so.  When you’re free of the fitted and are donning a flowing piece of clothing, the outfit somehow becomes magical.  Such is with the Horace wool and cashmere drape cape coat ($850); the epaulet detailing and extended waterfall draping is truly what resonates.  Another draped favorite is the Kookai scarf collar coat ($264); it’s perfect for slubbing about or dressing up and its large pockets give it practicality as much as the cowl gives edge.

Lastly we have the most incredible of the entire batch – the muubaa Tulip leather dress coat ($340).  If your body can handle the incredible egg bubble shape, this is truly a piece to look into acquiring.  The design echoes of the Dolce & Gabbana metal dress The GaGa wore in her Paparazzi video.  The hips are without a doubt the full focus of this piece! I wish it was buttoned versus the zip, but this dress coat is a magical item to behold.

ASOS does ship internationally – check out their post details here.
