Topshop Unique SS10 Collection Review

I love how unpredictable Topshop‘s Unique collections are, but there are times that I just don’t see where the inspiration drives from.

Take the patches on faux dirty denim; this girl looks like a really hot gas station attendant or mechanic. After that, there was a gigantic sorbet colored cropped bobble sweater. After those first few speed bumps, the Unique collection really began to take a lovely life of its own.

The plastic accents were a lovely futuristic touch, continuing the space theme from FW09. The collection sees a curve from outrageous to more conservative with less than a quarter of the looks shown; this is especially seen with print minis, tame mid thigh length shorts and plain body con dresses.

The styling of the models seemed nearly military inspired; there were knotted shirts, cropped pants and large parkas in just one outfit. Many pieces had a very rugged, used look to them which was starkly contrasting the maxi dresses and other conservative pieces.

Amongst choice pieces were the cropped motorcycle vest and short shorts and the incredible cutout leggings. I’ll take bets now that mega cutout leg pieces like those will be the leather legging equivalent of last year to SS10.

@AnnMarie: Topshop sells out fast, so if you’re not checking regularly for items to be released you’re going to be disappointed -unfortunately this time you’ve missed the boat.
