Forever 21 Does Leather, But Not Really

It was leathermania all over my inbox this morning; “pair leather with basics and dainty pieces”, “shop leather” and the list goes on. The trouble is, none of the pieces were actually made out of leather.

It was all a rouse to get us hyped leather fiends to click through to the site – only we got pleather pieces. Don’t get me wrong; the items were nice and I’d love to have worn them if they were actually what was advertised.

The funniest thing was that on the leather splash page we’re directed to, F21 seems to be unable to pinpoint exactly what to call their merchandise. Names range from actually stating leather to faux leather, pleather to some not including a material identifier at all.

Come on Forever 21, you can do better than this dirty advertising. Tsk, tsk.

If you don’t mind being a leather faker, check out the zipper faux leather pant ($23), ‘leather’ shorts ($23), pleather skirt ($20), zipper vest ($28), and the L.A.M.B. inspired faux leather cage pump ($29).
