The Gap Blatantly Rips Off American Apparel’s Ad Style

There are no two ways about it – these ads are identical.

Sadly The Gap has chosen to rip off American Apparel‘s trademark ad look for their new 1969 jeans campaign. What a shameful display from a company that is beginning to turn its brand around.

The similarities are overwhelming; use of helvetica bold in the main and brand text, white backdrop, and a semi provocative pose of a model with brown hair.

SHAME!

It reminds me of Brooke Shields for Calvin Klein, the same pose everything but in a obvious way. “Nothing comes between me and my Calvins.” Or now, the Gap.
