Wow, Urban Outfitters has taken things to a whole new low. I know they have a history of ripping off independent designers and store signage, but this is too much.
Enter the ‘poverty sucks’ t-shirt by DOE.
While UO is clearly attempting [and failing] to be oh so hipster ironic, there is nothing even partially intelligent or thought provoking about this shirt. Instead, I see a company marketing a poor mindset (pun intended, yes) to impressionable spend-spend kids willing to pay $40 for a piece of cotton and the promise it will make them look like assholes.
Oh, did I forget to mention that UO historically funds Republicans and anti-LGBT movements?
Boycott Urban Outfitters!

wow – very lame.
08.10.09 @ 12:13 pmthe Gap/RED collab was so much better than this. something tells me that not a dime of the profits/proceeds from selling this shirt actually goes towards helping people in poverty.
08.10.09 @ 4:18 pmIt would almost be redeeming if the proceeds went to help a charity, but since it isn’t, this is awful. Who in their right mind would purchase something like this?
