I don’t get Beth Ditto, or why fashion houses seem to be so enthralled with her brutish and clown like ‘love me or leave me’ persona. While suspicion sneaks upon me that I never will, it certainly isn’t for lack of trying.
Ditto has been put into the fashion spotlight as a muse, but she’s just an uncouth version of Mama Cass. When I think of Beth Ditto as a performer and a person; I think of a sweating, spandex covered disaster, not a fashion icon. Below is one of the latest photo shoots Ditto has participated; this image in particular is for Blackbook Magazine.
Sure, she can clean up well, but Beth isn’t evoking thoughts of a style forward person to me.
Thoughts?

I think that she makes up for her obesity by being outspoken.
She doesn’t care. Which can be a good thing. But, just as models with eating disorders are a problem, being boarder line morbidly obese and being proud of your tumbling rolls is equally problematic.
