Lady GaGa is looking a little less unique as days go by.
Whilst digging through random bits and bites from the 80s, I stumbled across the below photos of Dale Bozzio (formerly of the band Missing Persons). These photos are strikingly similar to our lovely Lady; only replace the blinding Barbie pink with purple, and we’ve got a match.
You can’t deny the intense similarities between the two, from their futuristic space bras to penchants for plastic, patent leather and colorfully highlighted bleach blond these two appear to have sprouted from the same pod.
While original concepts are a thing of the past in pop, and you’ve got to hand it to Stefani for creating and maintaining the GaGa – it’s still nice to give credit where credit is due.
After all, Dale did pave the way for all Popsicle strippers with pipes and a dream.

Thank you for printing this, great comparison pictures, I get weird looks when I keep saying, “I liked Lady Gaga better when she used to be called Dale Bozzio!” I grew up with Missing Persons and just loved Dale, they also had Terry Bozzio on drums and Warren Cuccurullo on guitar, that band blows away anything Miss Gaga does, though she is pretty talented and has a very prominent posterior!
07.09.09 @ 1:17 amMissing Persons were SO much better than Lady Gaga, it’s ridiculous to think there could even be a debate. Personally, I think Gaga should change the words to ‘Poker Face’ to be about having sex with her boyfriend:
“When we boff, lights are off
So he can’t see my butter face”
Missing Persons blows Lady GaGa away in so many ways. They were great musicians, GaGa, pretty much all she’s good at is dressing like a tramp, thats about it.. her name should be Lady Gag Gag… Poke Her Face Poke her Face!!!!
09.16.09 @ 9:49 am@Bo: I love the Gaga – I just observe and report
09.16.09 @ 12:06 pmi agree! DALE BOZZIO ALL THE WAY!
09.26.09 @ 9:06 pmI was friends with Dale for years…and the first thing I thought when I saw Lady G was DALE. Renee`
09.30.09 @ 12:13 pmYeah, I just watched her on SNL and now with that hair, it’s even more obvious. But Lady Gaga is weird. Dale is cool.
10.03.09 @ 11:08 pmgaga just wants fame. dale was about the music.
10.07.09 @ 12:39 amNot saying she is not talented in her way, but she is definitely not an original…all I am saying.
10.29.09 @ 7:58 ami completely agree, she is very very very similar. thought that way back. i am a huge mp fan -its nice to see that dale has influenced so many other musicians, but none do it better than she did back when it was really about taking chances and shocking the hell out the public.
11.10.09 @ 5:00 pmJust watched Missing Persons on the US festival. I just realized the outright theft.
01.19.10 @ 1:04 amooo, i thought of this the first time i saw any photage of gaga! Since i like missing persons, and have been fascinated by dale for ages! =p
02.10.10 @ 1:44 pmYou know I haven’t actually heard of this bozzio chic or her band, but then again i wasn’t born until 1983, and GaGa wasn’t born until 1986 so in my opinion it is pretty original and fashion forward of her to take her style Cues from someone who was only famous before you were even born.
And I don’t think that she ever actually claimed to be a one of a kind or that her style was uniquely hers. I think that came from everyone else saying that ABOUT her. Kudos to both of these ladies for being daring in fashion however similar their crazy styles may be.
I’m sure Gaga has heard of the Missing Persons years before she did ‘her’ look. Like others Ashlee Simpson in that one video is so like Dale rip-off. I like most of all these newer girl-pop singers but some may not admit they ‘borrowed’ from Dale Bozzio..but with Lady Gaga, it’s totally obvious she did and in my opinion, blantently so. As for others it’s Dale’s “sqeek” vocal style. Like Ke$ha. Out of latest batch of new-girl synth pop I like Ke$ha alot, yeah I know the lyrics are silly as hell but she seems fun. As someone pointed out – Gaga=weird / Dale Bozzio=COOL! But If -ONLY- Dale got herself back on track and Missing Persons were able to get a real good running reunion, you know she’d blow them all by the wayside..For sure!
06.10.10 @ 10:26 amWhen Lady Gaga started becoming popular it took me & my family a while to figure out that it wasn’t actually Dale in disguise.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say that Dale is still cool… after all, the woman has left dozens of cats to die of starvation from New England to California, while claiming to be an animal lover. And she has had her sons living in the rented homes loaded with feces with her.
For this simple fact alone, I believe that Lady Gaga is much better than Dale Bozzio!
In my opinion it is as if someone tried to clone Dale and it went horribly wrong.First of all Dale was a PlayBoy Bunny wich lady gaga could never pull off,her husband was a fabulous drummer and the guitar player toured with Zappa.Needless to say the music was more complex. But the real issue I think is that EVERYTHING is copied from the 70s and 80s.Every movie is a remake or from some TV show.Famous songs are “re-mixed” or just butchered by new artists that cant think of anything new to write about.Raw talent doesnt justify a career anymore.Bands arent discovered they are manufactured.Lady gaga is just a media created remke of Missing Persons, who should take a look at Dales “CatLady” mugshot,as a glimpse into her future.
08.16.10 @ 12:46 pmI LOVE DALE BOZZIO!!!!!!!!!!
08.20.10 @ 10:29 am[...] she is not original. How she has stolen so many ideas from Dale Bozzio (lead vocal Missing Person) (something interesting to read), to [...]
12.29.10 @ 6:57 pmI know this post is old, but I have been saying/thinking this from day 1 when people were making comparisons. I have seen everybody talk about how she was taking from Madonna (which is true), Grace Jones (which is also true), and others, but the image of Dale Bozzio in the Destionation Unknown video always come to mind when I think about or see Lady GaGa.
03.17.11 @ 9:35 am@MichalSteele720: it may be old, but it’s still gaining attention! I still find it funny there hasn’t been more mainstream comparison to Dale Bozzio.
03.17.11 @ 11:53 ama shame that my generation does not know missing persons , what a great band, i m listening to them night and day
04.27.11 @ 11:35 amGreat! I said the same thing when I saw her. But i remEmbered Dale, I didnt have to come across anything. Dales voice is more distinct and memorable than Gaga’s. Gaga isnt going to be remembered for her singing because any vocal accuity she may have is mechanically obscured and we cant HEAR it, let alone remember it. She’ll be remembered for the specticle not any alleged talent.
05.19.11 @ 4:31 am[...] a little bit too similar, however, when you take a look at this comparison photo put together by demicouture.ca. THE [...]
06.17.11 @ 4:22 pmWhat else is new. I knew right away when I saw GaGa she reminded me of Dale. But I’m Dale’s generation and saw Missing Person’s in concert thru out the very very 80′s.
07.31.11 @ 11:42 amDALE THE ORIGINAL I MEAN COME ON PEOPLE LETS GET A CLUE ABOUT OUR MUSIC HISTORY?!??!!!!!!
GAGA GOOD ARTIST NEEDS TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDITS DUE!!!!!!!!!
LOOK ON YOU TUBE UNDER LINA MORGANA
INTERESTING
Well Gaga will have proved she is a Dale copycat when she does a nude spread for a mens mag like Dale did for High Society. Dale had some nice melons and a fine bush. Yum…
08.17.11 @ 12:50 pmDO NOT COMPARE LADY CACA TO DALE BOZZIO, WENDY O WILLIAMS, TERRI NUN, OR GRACE JONES. THEY WERE AWESOME AND THE REAL DEAL. Lady Gaga is just a poser and an attention whore, and frumpy sloppy one at that. Ugly too.
09.10.11 @ 9:49 pmI believe we should let time be the judge. Many pop divas have come and gone. Longevity is the true measure of success. While it’s undeniable that Dale’s style was groundbreaking, let us keep in mind that she was trained under Frank Zappa. I agree, Gaga looks a lot like a clone of Dale, and I trust that time will put her in her rightful place.
