Congrats, Vancouver…you got just what you didn’t need: another mall quality “fashion” store filled with the gaudiest colors, most heinous silhouettes and quality fit for Off The Wall. Awesome.
This monstrosity (which I am told glows at night time) is the absolute last thing Vancouver (especially Yaletown) needs to restart the failing pulse of stylishness in the city.
This space could have been used for anything else (I would have rather had a freaking gym put in there instead of this retail horror), but alas we’re stuck with another environment set strategically to confuse people with money into thinking they’re spending their money on the right things.
Peter Nygard = epic FAIL.

This place has the most hideous lighting. The florescent glow is unbearable for blocks.
01.13.09 @ 1:00 amCongrats, Victoria. Another profoundly intellectual blog. People that live in Vancouver, let alone Yaletown, won’t rely on Peter Nygard for starting the ‘pulse’ of stylishness in our lovely city. The modern view of fashion in this city does not revolve around epic failures of the irrelevant store openings. How does Off the Wall relate to Peter Nygard?
Find something to start the pulse and dig a little deeper with your words Perez.
01.13.09 @ 12:02 pm@Anne: How are you to know what does and does not revolve around the world of stylishness for this city?
The problem with this city is we don’t have a modern view of fashion, or Lululemon wouldn’t sell as well as it does.
In my reference comparing Off The Wall and Nygard is both share similar characteristics; poor design that is overpriced and shoddily constructed.
Thanks for the constructive words, though. It’s always nice to have an informed critic provide their opinion.
01.13.09 @ 12:25 pmHooray for elasticized waistlines
This store was the beginning of the vandalism to the once distinctive Yaletown. Now with the opening of yet another Joey’s and Keg on Hamilton perhaps all of Yaletown’s retail real estate will all convert to shopping mall retail shops, i.e. South Granville.
01.16.09 @ 6:01 pmGreat post Victoria. You’re doing a serious public service announcement, saving people from ever entering this morbid vortex of bad taste and worse lighting.
It looks like a store that the stylists of the original 90210 shop at. My curiosity led me inside and after being in there for 30 seconds, I felt pretty violated and upset that those seconds could never ever be reclaimed. I give it until September 2009.
01.26.09 @ 6:11 pmI love this store!
04.21.09 @ 5:20 pmInteresting…. stop bashing and Welcome a Canadian Fashion Icon to Yaletown. Grown and Raised from Rags to Riches. We should all support Peter Nyagrd, Not only does he give to so many charities he provides great jobs to Canadians!
04.27.09 @ 4:39 pmPeter Nygard actaully has some really nice pieces! His Brand Bianca Nyagrd is on trend and has been praised in some international magazines and runways. Yes some of it is bad, but overall it has some cute pieces, yes its not Pink Tartan.. but somedays it works great! Bad lighting or not! I think it adds a unique addition to yaletown. I welcome Nygard to my area
04.27.09 @ 4:41 pmA fashion icon? Hah! You may enjoy his ‘style’, but I certainly don’t.
04.27.09 @ 4:50 pmto be completely honest, I looked at this store with such disgust at first, after looking at it from far away with hate, I decided to go in and look at what they had. The lighting is garbage, design is great for an arcade, but totally lacks the welcoming warm feeling that a clothing store should have. The clothes are okay, they have some cute pieces that if put together tastefully, could really look good; taking into consideration that you’ll need to ad your own pieces, one thing I’ve learned over the years is that you should never have the same brand from head to toe, then u look like some brand threw up on ya. anyways, they are alright, in some cases really off, and in some dead on. they just need to turn the lights off, oh and also put up a sign. VERY IMPORTANT
11.21.09 @ 1:54 amNygard is off the wall – rude, gross, frequently fails to shower for a week at a time. Treats employees like slave labour. His potty mouth can be heard screaming through an entire warehouse. Nope – I wouldn’t even step into one of his stores – would rather go without.
12.02.09 @ 3:24 pmthey putup a sign today, more of a monstrosity to yaletown. it glows blue at night now.
